Frenchman's Creek

This painting (based on a book by Daphne DuMaurier) is about a pirate and a lady during the reign of Charles the Second. For years I wondered how to depict the correct mood and image. Finally, I decided to illustrate the first time the heroine came across the creek on her property and the ship lying there secretly at anchor.
