Hangin' In The Gardens
Nebuchadnezzar built his wife a little getaway to remind her of her ancestral home in the mountains. That is how the Hanging Gardens of Babylon came about. No one knows what it looked like, which gives an artist a good deal of license. However, I did do some homework. The tile pattern, the lion statue, the dragon heads, the Ziggurats and other things are all based on real items from Babylon. Other statues, buildings etc. were borrowed from Assyria and other neighboring ancient civilizations. This painting took me a year to complete.
